$50.00 - Going once, going twice, sold to the man with the white turban!
Years ago Ron Charles began ministering illegally to the Bedouin Muslims. (This is a process that takes years to complete because outsiders are not easily accepted. You have to make repeated visits, earn their trust and build a rapport. Then and only then will they allow you to share the Gospel.) This has resulted in Ron planting several churches among them known as the “Oasis Churches”. Because it is illegal for them to convert to Christianity they are unable to have a church at a fixed location. If discovered they would be arrested, beaten, imprisoned or killed. Many have already been unceremoniously buried in the sand by their persecutors. Each Sunday these Believers meet at a different oasis to praise and worship our Lord. Hundreds of them come from across the desert sands but many are unable to attend because they have no car, (excuse me) no camel to come to church on. Imagine having to walk 50 miles in the burning desert to get to church. It is a weekly, life-threatening ordeal.
Seeing the need and the incredible opportunity to help their churches grow, Ron began to buy camels for the Christian families so that they can traverse the desert sands worship, sing and study the Bible together. (These are two-seat, convertible camels.) More camels mean more people at church, more mature Christians, more training for these Believers and more unsaved Muslims being brought to the oasis to receive the Living Water! This is truly the Bedouin version of a bus ministry!
Ron has successfully been able to buy camels in packs (or herds) for about $50 each. I am asking every reader and every Sunday School class and every church to help us buy camels. I would love to buy 1,000 of them or even more. 1,000 camels means at least 2,000 more people in church each Sunday!
Come on now, some of you have been buying Camels (the cigarette) for years - even packs of them. I’m told there are 20 in a pack - how about buying a pack of camels for the Lord’s work! I promise you this will be a donation that won’t go up in smoke! You’ll have fun helping out with this project and will be talking about it for years to come. Please, set a goal, talk to your family and friends, speak to your pastor about it, and send in your donation designated for “Camels”. We’ll take it from there and provide you with a results letter and some photographs. They already have the Light, now all they need are the camels. Hey Buddy! - can you spare a camel? If not a pack, will you purchase at least one?
When I was accepted in the university in Khartoum in Northern Sudan we were taken to be trained as soldiers so that we could be sent to fight in southern Sudan. But I decided to leave Khartoum and escape through the Central African Republic, through the Congo until I reached Uganda where I was arrested and put in prison and suspected of being a spy. After the investigation I was proven to be innocent and set free. When I was released I was taken to the refugee camp in Kampala where I got saved after being convinced that God was faithful by keeping me safe during my entire journey.A Pastor’s wife came tothe house I was living in. She was trying to visit a certain lady from their church that had left her house vacant when I moved in.She gave me a gospel tract and directed me to Greater Grace Church. Later I was trained at the Greater Grace Bible College.
